Loosen Your Ties For Global Warming
Written by Joe Philip
Monday, 23 July 2007
It appears that Italy has figured out a relatively simple way to reduce energy use. Loosen their neckties. This would make sense, that in warmer climates, we dress appropriately, instead of wearing heavy clothing and pumping up the air conditioning to keep cool. It may not seem like a lot, but according to this article, the firm Eni, was able to save roughly 126 tons of CO2, or 217,000 kWh by allowing the building to warm up 1 degree. This is almost equivalent to installing a 200 kW PV system in Germany. So do your part and remove the tie!
